Plex Photography was first created on January 11, 2003 as "PlexNet". The website was a template and had a custom made gallery. The custom made gallery was hard for me to do, because I had to space everything equally, hotlink, resize, make thumbnails, and more customization. Then, the website was online. For a about 3 weeks, dead links in the gallery were common because of many mistakes on uploading pictures/thumbnails.
From January to May the site was fully functional and only a few problems which lasted a few days then fixed. The site got many hits in this period and was getting good feedback. The gallery did not only have my photography, but it had about 5 other people's photography. I updated my site every chance I could get and enjoyed working with it.
Then on June 6, 2003, I closed the website to have a version 2.0 of "PlexNet". In this period, I lost interest in my site somewhat and left it alone until December 2003. I found a very nice gallery software for the website and since I had no idea how to set it up, I had a friend set it up for me. I then added all my old pictures I had in my customized gallery from the old website. Other people wanted their own account in the forum, so I made anyone who wanted a personal photo gallery a free account. Around 10 people had an account and posted many pictures they have taken. By then, there was many accounts and over 300 pictures total in the gallery.
Then I got interested in the website again in January and found many designs, but did not like any of them. In February, I got bored of seeing the "Reopening in 2004, Please Come Back Later" logo on the homepage of the website. I made a games section of the website. At first, It had about 7 flash online games and the games section was growing very popular. In about 2 weeks after that, I added around 35 more flash games. I told my friends that there was a games section now. My friends told me they told other people, and other people told other people, and so on. The games section had around 700 hits it in a period of 3 months. I then found out that these games could be played at my high school, so I told people they can play at school, and that grown the hits to about 1500. I heard that the middle school was playing these games also. I had no idea how popular the games section would be.
In March through May, the gallery totally failed and I lost everything. The accounts and 300 pictures were lost from the gallery error. In the middle of May, I fixed this and I uploaded many pictures. This new version of the gallery had an awesome feature, auto register. Now people could register their user name and password and then post pictures after account verification through email.
In late May, I found an old design I forgot about. I then edited it and choose the old websites color scheme for originality. I then made a new website and renamed it "Plex Photography". The "Complex" and "Plex" came from a nickname I got in a video game in 1998, and it stuck and I use it for everything now. Today, the website is getting good feedback and hopefully nothing wrong happens. I also now backup my gallery once a month for obvious reasons.
